DOMESTIC ABUSE
Decision Theatre – The Family is a 2 × 45-minute interactive theatre session that examines the impact of domestic aggression and transgenerational tensions on young people’s behaviour and mental well-being.
At the centre of the story is a boy who behaves aggressively toward his peers at school. As the dramatic scene unfolds, it gradually becomes clear that he himself is exposed to abuse at home: he lives in an angry, unpredictable family environment where tension and fear are part of everyday life.
During the session, students encounter decision-making situations that focus on the dilemma of secrecy and asking for help. Participants reflect together on what keeps such situations in place, what role shame and silence play, and what possibilities exist for creating safety.
In the guided reflection, particular emphasis is placed on the fact that the child is not responsible for the abuse, and that asking for help is a natural and legitimate step. The aim of the programme is to help young people recognise that even in difficult family situations, supportive relationships and safe adults do exist — people they can turn to for help.
